Thank you for stopping in. I am a Lincoln, Nebraska-based photographer. From the time I was 16 years old, I've nearly always had a camera in my hand, or at least at my side. I guess I am a pretty avid, if not quiet observer of life, and I see images or moments worth capturing everywhere I go. Portraits, outdoors and in beautiful natural light, as well as candid moments, sometimes called "street shooting" - photojournalism style, are my specialties. I'm also a very keen nature lover and have a passion for shooting in wild places. Maybe it's the Sagittarian in me - I do like to dip my toes into a lot of puddles!

Why Rose Hip? Rose hips are the berry-like fruit of the rose plant, but they have a special, symbolic meaning for me. At one time in his life, my father dabbled in wine making, and rose hip wine was one of his first efforts. In all honesty, it tasted horrible, but that didn't keep us teen-agers from sneaking some from time to time! When my father died, I thought the name Rose Hip Studio would be a nice homage to him. So, here's to you, dad!

Please take a look at the images in my galleries. If you like my work and would like hire me, please fill out the form on my Contact page or send an email to sharon.loudon@gmail.com to discuss a session or inquire about print sales. Photographs are a time-tested medium for keeping close those fleeting, yet important milestones in our lives. I take great pride in my work - I do not "batch" process images into one cookie cutter mold. I treat each as its own piece of art, something I hope you and your loved ones will treasure for years to come.
